Royal Opera & Ballet – Il Barbier Di Siviglia

“Il barbiere di Siviglia” (The Barber of Seville) is a comic opera in two acts composed by Gioachino Rossini with a libretto by Cesare Sterbini. It premiered on February 20, 1816, at the Teatro Argentina in Rome. The opera is based on the French comedy “Le Barbier de Séville” by Pierre Beaumarchais.

The story revolves around the clever and resourceful barber, Figaro, who helps the young nobleman Count Almaviva win the heart of the beautiful Rosina, who is kept under the guardianship of the scheming Dr. Bartolo. The opera is known for its lively and humorous plot, as well as its memorable melodies and rapid-fire patter songs.
