Rockin’ All Over The Wold @ The Galtres Centre

On Saturday 5th October the Galtres Centre in Easingwold reverberated to the sounds of the great classic rock anthems.

Rockin’ All Over The Wold @ The Galtres Centre

Rockin’ All Over The Wold, Easingwold’s annual beer and music festival have teamed up with the Galtres Centre to bring more live music to the centre during the year. It gives local bands the opportunity to perform in a well-equipped theatre with excellent acoustics and lighting rig and also raises awareness of what the Galtres Centre has to offer. How many Easingwold residents walk past the centre and never even think to go in and see what there is inside?

Saturday night’s music was provided by The Perfect Shambles with two support acts in tow. The first of these was Hollow Hearts, a 3-piece group fronted by Easingwold’s own Caitlen Moore. You may have already seen her perform in the Market Place as part of Easingwold’s Summer of Music. Her band played classics from the Foo Fighters, Billy Idol and even a rocked-up version of the Lady Gaga hit Bad Romance.

They were then followed by a group of extremely talented young musicians know as COA, formerly known as City of Angels. COA supported The Perfect Shambles last year at their first appearance at the Galtres and have since had a change of singer and bass player. Their musical talent is exceptional for such young people. Their set opened up with a thundering intro leading into a very fast version of the Black Sabbath classic, Paranoid. There were also hits from The Cranberries, Nickelback and The Police, and even a step back in time to the Chuck Berry classic, Johnny B Goode.

Then it was time for The Perfect Shambles. Their hour and a half set began with Rock You Like a Hurricane by German rockers The Scorpions, before leading into classics from AC/DC, Aerosmith, Thin Lizzy, Led Zeppelin, Status Quo, Guns ‘n’ Roses and Motorhead. The best way to describe The Perfect Shambles setlist is to write down your all-time favourite rock songs, and they’ll probably be playing it, or will have played it previously, or will be playing it next time!

The Galtres Centre was filled with a near capacity crowd who loved every minute of every performance and were up on their feet right from the start. The evening ended with an encore consisting of Led Zeppelin’s Whole Lotta Love and Black Betty by Ram Jam.

As well as high ticket sales, The Galtres Centre bar made a tidy sum, and The Yorkshire Air Ambulance raised £200 from charity bucket donations. The plan is to have many more events such as this. The next one will be York group, The Supermodels who will be performing just before Christmas.

Finally, we would like to show our appreciation to the staff and volunteers at The Galtres Centre and our RAOTW helpers who made this event possible.
